Sunderland couple turn horsebox into new coffee house - complete with stunning views and Shetland ponies
Emma Mould, 45 and Marc Harrison, 39, opened unique coffee trailer the New Plough in Cox Green, selling freshly made tea, coffee and cakes – as well as giving customers the chance to take in the couple’s farm, which features pigs, rabbits and a Shetland ponies named Charlie and Spirit.
Situated right on the River Wear, Emma and Marc wanted to give people a place to enjoy the scenery of Cox Green and decided they were ready to take the plunge of opening the business during the coronavirus lockdown.

Hide AdEmma’s Dad got to work converting the old horse trailer and the business opened for the first time in late June, offering a takeaway service or outdoor seating.
Emma said: “I’ve always loved the thought of opening something for people to appreciate the beautiful setting.
“Since lockdown the amount of people enjoying walks and visiting Cox Green seemed to give us the perfect time to get started.
“We have been overwhelmed with the support and the lovely comments. Our first weekend has been such a success.”

Hide AdThe family friendly coffee trailer is planning on offering future children themed days where youngsters will be able to meet and pet the couples Shetland Pony’s and hope to attract walkers all year round.
The New Plough Coffee and Tea House is now open at the Cox Green Waterside.
