And today, we are putting the focus on Fulwell once more as we continue our series of features about neighbourhoods on Wearside – as seen through archive photos from each community.
Fulwell is the latest to get our attention and you might remember the day when bird spotters turned up en masse to get a glimpse of a European Bee Eater which had descended on the area in 2012.
Maybe you can recognise one of the pupils from Redby Academy who were pictured on parade in 2013 or how about the Fulwell Women’s Institute members pictured watching the royal wedding in 2011?
