Designers Sarah and Mickey swapped busy Newcastle city centre for peaceful Seaburn in search of a better work-life balance in 2019.
The Victorian property, which dates back to 1910 and is only a 10-minute walk from the seafront, still boasts many of its original period features.
Sarah, who is originally from Seaham, said: “I love this area, I think it’s a hidden gem.
"It was a nice enough house, but it was a blank canvas and we wanted to put our mark on it.
“We’ve tried to keep the character of the house. We’ve kept all the original brick in the living room. There are a couple of broken bits but it’s quite nice to keep, because that is part of the story of the house.”
The renovation journey of the house is being documented on the home’s Instagram account @the_seaburn_house, which has garnered more than 6,000 followers.
Sarah has advised those who are renovating at the moment to plan and complete one room first before continuing with the rest of the refurb. She said: “Try and get one room finished so you’ve got somewhere to retreat to.”

2. The dining room before and after
Sarah said: "Opening up the fireplace in the dining room, it was huge so must have been the hub of the house at one point in the Victorian era. These days, we are making use of the fireplace nook as a little lockdown bar...different era and needs must! We retained the original brick but had to build a new arch using the reclaimed brick." 3. The transformation of the kitchen
Sarah said: "The kitchen is a typical terrace galley kitchen so we went with a contemporary minimal style to maximise the space. We took it back to brick to do remedial work, all new electrics, new boiler, plastering, spotlights and new kitchen and flooring - all in lockdown." Photo: @the_seaburn_house
4. The hallway
Sarah said: "The hallway wasn’t a major part of our renovation but we have replaced the tiles to a brighter and fresher pattern and tried to build on what was here - revamping radiator covers and painting features as a lockdown project." Photo: @the_seaburn_house
