Boat beached in Roker following engine failure
Sunderland Coastguard Rescue Team and Sunderland RNLI were called at 11.40am today to a pleasure boat which had been beached intentionally earlier in the morning.
The boat was beached after it experience engine problems.
The owner of the boat had arranged for another boat to tow the vessel clear on the rising tide but due to reasons outside of his control he requested assistance from the RNLI.

Hide AdThe boat was towed to Sunderland Marina by Sunderland RNLI Atlantic 85 lifeboat and the coastguard rescue team offered safety advice to the owner.
A spokesman for the coastguard said: "It recommended that pleasure boat owners on the River Wear make themselves aware of the Port of Sunderland's "Wear Boat Safe" scheme and Notice to Mariners 19/2018 - Sunderland Harbour - VHF reporting procedures for pleasure boats."
