Coastguard teams work alongside police helicopter in search for missing woman

Seaham Coastguard Rescue Team and Hartlepool Coastguard Rescue Team were alerted at 8.22pm yesterday, Thursday, May 27, following a call from police to help in the search at Nose’s Point in Dawdon, Seaham.
The crews had been on their weekly training session when they got the alert.

Hide AdNorthumbria Police sparked the check after a 41-year-old woman went missing from home in Gateshead, with the efforts in Seaham helping to find her safe later that night.
A spokesperson for the Seaham team said: “We carried out an extensive search between the Port of Seaham and Hawthorn Dene for a female who was last seen in the Gateshead area, but there was an unconfirmed sighting in the area.
"The National Police Air Service HQ also carried out a search by air of the area.
"With nothing found and the police satisfied the area in concern was covered we were stood down.

Hide Ad"As we arrived back at station at 10.20pm, we were paged again with Hartlepool Coastguard to assist the ambulance service with a casualty on the rocks at the north end of Seaham.
"On arrival we carried out casualty care and recovered the casualty into the care of the ambulance.
"Police officers were able to confirm this was the earlier missing person who was away from the original search area.
"They were taken to hospital for further care.”
