Sergeant David Watson, of Peterlee Neighbourhood Police Team, said: “Not only is the damage being caused unacceptable, but so is the possibility of there being far more serious consequences.
“Throwing things at moving vehicles is incredibly dangerous, and I’d urge anybody thinking of doing it to think very carefully about the effect it could have not just on the vehicles, but on the drivers and passengers.
“I’d also like to appeal to parents to consider where their children are and what they might be doing, and to have a serious conversation with them about the consequences of actions like these.”
