Man dies two weeks after alleged Sunderland city centre assault - police charge 26-year-old with manslaughter

The 27-year-old, who has been named as Jordan Bell, was found injured by a concerned member of the public outside a night club in the Holmeside area of the city centre shortly before 9pm on Friday, July 10.
Northumbria Police today confirmed he has died.
A 26-year-old man, Dominic Robson, who was initially arrested in connection with the incident, has now been charged with manslaughter and is due to appear before magistrates.

Hide AdAfter the attack, Mr Bell, 27, was taken to hospital by ambulance where he remained in a critical condition.
Police said Mr Bell sadly passed away in hospital on Friday July 24, surrounded by his loved ones, who the force said are receiving support from specialist officers at this difficult time.
An investigation was launched after the alleged assault and a 26-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.
Detectives have now confirmed Dominic Robson, 26, of Birchwood, Sunderland, has been charged with manslaughter and will appear before South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court on Monday, July 27.

Hide AdDetective Sergeant Katrina Moore, of Northumbria Police, said: “Jordan’s family are devastated and these past two weeks have been a living nightmare for them.
“We have been carrying out an investigation so we can establish exactly what has happened that night and get answers for Jordan’s loved ones.
“It has been treated as an assault since we first started carrying out our enquiries and now a man has been charged with manslaughter.
“But we still need to hear from anyone who may have witnessed what happened so if you can help then please get in touch.”

A police appeal was previously issued asking for anyone for information to come forward.
