Mother's heartbreaking tribute after Washington car crash victim dies in hospital

Emergency services were called to Sulgrave Road in Washington at 4.40pm on Sunday, June 2, after a report a silver Ford Mondeo had collided with a tree.
Passenger Dean Fearon, 29, of Washington, was seriously hurt and police have now revealed he died from his injuries on Tuesday evening. His family is currently being supported by family liaison officers.

Hide AdHis mother Michelle today issued a heartfelt poem she wrote in tribute to her much-loved son: “My heart is broken. As I said goodbye, I sang you a lullaby. My baby, a man, ready to die. Please God why?
“It’s your time before mine, why ooo why? You have babies to keep, Leanne a dear friend of mine.
“As you sleep treasures I’ll keep, I can’t promise I will not weep, I’m hoping I see you in my sleep.
“But for now my baby sleep, the promises I made I will keep. I love you my son, I will sing you that lullaby.”

Hide AdHe is accused of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop after an accident and failure to report an accident.
Magistrates declined jurisdiction on the case and it was committed to Newcastle Crown Court on July 20. Owens was released on bail on condition he does not enter Washington and resides at his mother’s address in County Durham.
Sergeant Matt Sykes, of Northumbria Police’s Motor Patrols department, has urged anyone who could assist with the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Sunday’s crash to come forward.

Hide AdAnd he appealed to the public not to jeopardise the ongoing court proceedings by engaging in speculation about the case.
“Any death on our roads is an absolute tragedy and all our thoughts are with Dean’s family and friends at this devastating time,” he said.
“We will continue to offer them any support they need, and we ask that their privacy is respected as they attempt to come to terms with what has happened.
“An investigation is ongoing into this incident as we seek answers for Dean’s family. One man is due to answer a number of charges in court, and we would ask that people refrain from speculation as it may jeopardise those live legal proceedings.

“We would also ask that motorists check their dashcam footage and contact us if you see anything that may assist our investigation.”
