Northumbria Police has confirmed officers were called out to Ryhope following an alleged dog attack.
The force confirmed that officers were called out to the area on Friday, June 12, amid reports that a dog had been attacked near The Grove off Burdon Lane by two other dogs which were on the loose.
Police were unable to comment further, but it is believed that the dog which had been attacked has sadly died.
