Sunderland man denies assaulting garage worker during beer theft

Police were called to the Morrison’s Daily store at the petrol station in Durham Road, close to its junction with Meadowside, in the morning of Tuesday, March 9.
A spokesman confirmed a man had been arrested after reports a member of staff had been pushed to the floor.

Hide AdTwenty-four-year-old Adam Carter, of Toward Road, was subsequently charged with assault, theft and criminal damage.
The case came before South Tyneside Magistrates today, Thursday, April 15, when solicitor Neil Hodgson entered pleas on Carter’s behalf.
Magistrates accepted guilty pleas to charges of stealing a crate of lager worth £12.50 and causing £600’s damage to a door and protective plastic screen.
A plea of not guilty was entered to a charge of assault and the case was adjourned to 2pm on Monday, August 23.
Carter’s conditional bail was extended to the trial date.
