Dramatic footage shows boat ablaze as firefighters tackle towering flames in Sunderland

Firefighters were called to the riverbanks near the Ropery, at Deptford, in Sunderland, at around 1.40pm on Saturday, February 15.
Onlookers have described the huge flames which have destroyed the small boat.

Hide AdOne man, who asked not to be named, said he watched firefighters struggle to access the boat.
“I saw from the bridge and came down,” he said. “I saw the fire engines from the top.
“I don’t know what’s caused it but there’s been a few fires along the river banks recently.”
Footage shows the stream of water as firefighters battle to bring the blaze under control.
Crews were still at the scene dampening down almost an hour after the call.
Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service confirmed three crews from Sunderland Central and Marley Park attended.
