Emergency services launch recovery operation at river Wear near Queen Alexandra Bridge after person reported in the water

Emergency services including Northumbria Police, the North East Ambulance Service and the Sunderland RNLI inshore lifeboat were called to Queen Alexandra Bridge around 12.30pm on Sunday, August 9.
A Sunderland lifeboat spokesman said: “At about half past 12 this afternoon, we were requested to support the police with the recovery of a person.

Hide Ad"Our volunteers worked with the police, along with the North East Ambulance Service’s Hazardous Area Response Team, and the casualty was recovered back to Sunderland Marin then handed over to the paramedics from there.”
A North East Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were called at 12.30pm to a report of a person in the water in the Queen Alexandra Bridge area.
"We dispatched two crews from our Hazardous Area Response Team.”
The condition of the casualty is not known.
