The Southwick Altogether Raising Aspirations (SARA) environmental enforcement team served the penalty on a city shop after they investigated complaints of flytipping at the green.
When the shop was unable to show any records of how it got rid of its waste, it was served the fine by Sunderland City Council – the business has not been named.

Hide AdSARA brings together the council with Northumbria Police, Gentoo, Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Group, Health Partners and Voluntary and Community Groups.
It was launched last year with the aim of rejuvenating the area and supporting people living in those communities.
SARA board member and Southwick ward member, Councillor Alex Samuels said: “One of the regular concerns raised by residents through SARA and the council's city-wide Let's Talk consultations is littering and fly-tipping.
“Residents say they want to see more action against those who litter and fly-tip in our community and the council has stepped up its enforcement against the minority who do not dispose of their waste and litter appropriately.

“This business received this penalty because it could not show or explain how it removed its waste.”
