GARDENING: Wildflowers are a colourful alternative to lawns and borders
Follow or like the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) on Twitter or Facebook, as it will be giving away prizes during National Gardening Week, including Simple Sowing seed mats and carpets.
In carpets, seeds are pre-sown into a biodegradeable 'paper', meaning you will have an even distribution of mixed wildflowers wherever you place it.

Hide AdThere's no thinning - all you have to do is place the carpet where you want it, cover with a thin sprinkling of soil, and water it.
Seed carpets can be sown any time between March and June, or from late-October to mid-November.
Keep the soil moist and you should see the first signs of flowers six to eight weeks after sowing if sown in spring.
