The programme consists of the AQA Personal Social Education Certificate, and the British Heart Foundation ‘Heart Start Certificate’. In addition, for anyone who does not have a GCSE Grade C in English or mathematics, tutors will provide sessions aimed at helping you to achieve these qualifications up to level 2. Subject to eligibility, daily meal vouchers and bursary payments are available. The programme runs from Monday to Thursday, 10am to 3pm. Recent funding obtained from Virgin Money has led to this opportunity. Drop-in sessions are also available to do job search, complete paper or online applications and construct CVs. Carers who would welcome some time to relax and share time to socialise and enjoy the company with others in a similar situation, are extended a warm invitation to come along to St Nicholas Church hall, Queen Alexandra Road, tomorrow from 10.30am until noon. Stephanie Clark (0191 522 6444),Vicar at St Nicholas, will be the lead for a new council-funded project which sees the church hall being used over the next 12 months as a welcoming ‘Community Connector Hub’, for people in and around St Michael’s ward.
