Hetton - Down Your Way
Friends of Hetton Lyons Country Park enjoyed great day out at the Dragon Boat Race/Hetton Summer Festival. The weather was kind and about 5,000 people attended the event. Thanks go to the Rotary North East and Events2gogo, who teamed up to put this fantastic event on. Needless to say because of the huge success it will be held again next year. The Friends would also like to thank the public who supported their stall and the volunteers who helped out. Without volunteers the events would not be possible, so more people to help are always welcome. Special thanks too to all who donated prizes to the raffle, especially the businesses of Hetton and Durham, who support the Friends Group. The next meeting of the group will be on Thursday, September 29, in the Visitors’ Centre in the park, where arrangements will be made for bulb planting in the autumn with the assistance of the primary schools in Hetton. New members are always welcome, email [email protected] or visit or web site:www.hettoncountrypark.wordpress.com for details. The Friends have English Blue Bells for sale, money raised goes back into the park.
Pete Carr is looking for new members to go along to the Nidderdale Centre. Events are held daily such as bingo, tea and coffee morning and events throughout the year. For more information call in.
