Man, 29, in hospital after being hit by car in Houghton in early hours of Sunday
The pedestrian, aged 29, sustained the injuries after being hit by the vehicle in Newbottle Street in the town at about 1.10am on Sunday.
He is now in hospital and described as being in a "stable condition".

Hide AdA spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said: "At 1.10am on Sunday police were informed about a collision in Newbottle Street, in Houghton.
"For reasons yet to be established a pedestrian was hit by a car.
"The pedestrian, a 29-year-old man, was taken to hospital where his condition is stable.
"Any witnesses can ring Northumbria Police on 101 quoting reference number 79070215."
