Meet the women vying to be named Top Model of Sunderland
Last month, a search was launched to find a budding catwalk queen to represent Wearside at a national modelling competition.
The title is being brought to Sunderland for the first time by regional director Ailish Shaw and she says she’s delighted with the calibre of entries.

Hide Ad“We’ve had 60 applications from around Tyne and Wear so far, they’ve been of a really high standard,” she said. “It’s a great platform for girls wanting to enter the world of modelling.”
Ten finalists have been selected so far, with another ten slots still up for grabs.
One of the finalists is Holly Allton, 20, from South Shields.
The barmaid said: “I’ve never entered anything like this before as I have no experience and I’m only 4ft 11in.
“But I thought I’d give it a go to boost my confidence.
“I was so excited when I found out I got through.”

Hide AdThe chosen 20 finalists will take part in the grand final at the Stadium of Light on June 11, which will feature a performance by X Factor finalist Kiera Weathers, who is also one of the judges.
All proceeds will go to the Foundation of Light, and finalists will be tasked with fundraising for the charity in the run-up to the final.
The winner of Top Model of Sunderland will win a prize package, including a photo shoot with The Fresh Group, a beauty makeover with Bellissimi and hair styling by Jen Mancini.
They will also win direct entry into the Supermodel England national final, where they will represent the city.

Hide AdGrand prizes at the national final include an all-expenses paid, five-star trip to South Africa to represent England at World Supermodel, representation by GAP Models, London, and the chance to travel to China to trek the Great Wall for charity.
Richard Hopper, head of commercial at the Foundation of Light, the registered charity of SAFC, said: “I think it’s fantastic that these ladies are getting involved and supporting the local community.
“They’ll be taking part in a range of events we’re hosting over the next few months.”
