Pedestrian taken to hospital with head injuries after collision in Sunderland

Emergency services were called to Doxford Park Way, near the Morrison’s supermarket, after 5.30pm today, Tuesday, February 4.
Police closed the dual carriageway in both directions while the patient was treated and transferred to an ambulance.

Hide AdA North East Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed the service had attended and one casualty had been taken to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI).
“The first call came in at 17.38 to a report of a person hit by a car outside the Morrison’s supermarket at the William Doxford Centre,” she said.
“We sent four resources. That included a doctor from the Great North Air Ambulance.
“One person was taken to the RVI major trauma unit with a head injury.”
It is not yet known how old the casualty is or whether it is a man or a woman.
