Prime Minister Boris Johnson revealed on Sunday, May 10, members of the public were allowed to meet another person from outside their household as long as they remained outdoors and adhered to social distancing from Wednesday, May 13.
The public is now also able to head outdoors for ‘unlimited exercise’ and drive to a location for exercise.
There were fears that the towns parks and beaches would be overrun with people flooding to public places but despite a fairly sunny day the beaches and parks in Sunderland have remained fairly quiet.
Here’s what the destinations looked like:
