Trevor Dodell, who lives on the Briardene Way estate at Easington Colliery, has created a unique tribute to the NHS outside his home as the fight against coronavirus continues.
The 40-year-old - whose day job as a plasterer is currently on hold - used some of his spare time to cut the grass into the shape of a rainbow, alongside the letters NHS – on a stretch of land coming into the estate, which residents have helped maintain over the years.

Over the weekend, with the help of neighbours Stephen Hague and Guy Hamilton, Trevor used spray paint to colour in the display.
“I was sick of cutting my own grass so I thought I would kill a bit of time - but it just kind of grew and grew, the next thing people were sharing photos of it on social media,” said Trevor.
“It has gone down really well. I live right on the entrance and everybody coming in and out has been stopping and asking about it

A neighbour, who shared the tribute, said: “The message has brought us together as a community and helped let people know that we will get through this together.”
