The fundraiser, which has seen more than 90 people donate, describes Dean as a ‘dotting dad who wanted everything for his partner and two girls’.
His heartbroken family are currently being supported by family liaison officers as a man has appeared in court in connection with the collision.
Lee Owens, 35, appeared at South Tyneside Magistrates Court on Tuesday, June 22, in connection with the collision in which resulted in Dean’s death – although the hearing took place before the dad-of-two passed away.

Hide AdOwens is accused of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop after an accident and failure to report an accident.
Magistrates declined jurisdiction on the case and it was committed to Newcastle Crown Court on July 20. Owens was released on bail on condition he does not enter Washington and resides at his mother’s address in County Durham.
Last week, his mother Michelle issued a heartfelt poem she wrote in tribute to her much-loved son: “My heart is broken. As I said goodbye, I sang you a lullaby. My baby, a man, ready to die. Please God why?
“It’s your time before mine, why ooo why? You have babies to keep, Leanne a dear friend of mine.

“But for now my baby sleep, the promises I made I will keep. I love you my son, I will sing you that lullaby.”
An investigation into the crash remains ongoing and detectives are appealing for anyone with information to come forward by calling 101 or visiting the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of the force’s website and quoting log 764 200621.
Sergeant Matt Sykes, of Northumbria Police’s Motor Patrols department, said: “An investigation is ongoing into this incident as we seek answers for Dean’s family.

“I would like to thank those who have already come forward with information since our appeal on Sunday. If anybody else saw a silver Ford Mondeo travelling east on Sulgrave Road on Sunday afternoon and has yet to get in touch with us, please do so.
“We would also ask that motorists check their dashcam footage and contact us if you see anything that may assist our investigation.”
