Police not involved 'at this stage' after Sunderland pub goer tests positive for coronavirus leading to pub closures

The Golden Fleece and The Cavalier in Silksworth both announced a temporary closure after a customer was confirmed to have coronavirus following a visit to the former on Friday, July 31.
The pubs, were informed of the situation on Saturday, August 1, after the customer tested positive for coronavirus.

Hide AdThe person is said to have visited the pubs after taking the test before receiving the result.
Both venues announced that they had chosen to close on social media on Saturday, August 1 to allow for a deep clean and to test staff.
The pubs have since reopened, welcoming back customers late on Sunday afternoon.
Now Northumbria Police has confirmed that it has not received any reports about the incidents at this stage.

Hide AdRyhope Cricket Club also announced that it has close temporarily after a visitor to its club house reportedly tested positive for Covid-19.
All leagues and opposition teams have been informed and the cricket section committee will meet on Monday, August 3, with appropriate social distancing in place, to discuss and agree the club’s course of action to enable the resume of play.
The club said it will continue to keep the public informed of all developments as soon as possible.
