Schoolgirl Isla stages beach run to support police dog charity fund

Isla Porri, from Hebburn had already collected sponsorship when the Junior Great North Run was cancelled, so headed to the beach in South Shields with her dog Duke to for a two-mile run – double the distance required.
Isla was keen to raise funds to support animals and with help from her parents, she settled on Durham Constabulary’s PawsUp charity.

Hide AdNow she has visited the force’s headquarters to present £330 to Chief Constable Jo Farrell and Pc Ian Squire, of its dog unit, on behalf for the charity.
Pc Squire, who presented Isla with a selection of gifts, said: “It is fantastic what Isla has done.
"In a year when our big fundraisers have been cancelled, like many smaller charities, we have found it tough.
“When someone like Isla comes along and raises such a great amount of money, it makes these individual efforts even more special.”
