Hide AdI am standing for election as a Conservative because I believe Labour is doing a terrible job of running the Council.
Labour’s council tax hike was a disastrous decision and completely inappropriate after the year we’ve just had.
The Conservative Party opposed the 5 per cent hike.
I am a passionate Brexiteer.
Billy Scott HOWELLS (Green Party)
The people of Houghton deserve a real representative on the council.
The protection of our natural environment is now more important than ever as we see green spaces decrease across the city.

Hide AdAs your councillor, I will fight to protect our green spaces and support eco-friendly and affordable housing on brownfield sites.
Residents are not currently receiving value for money from council tax, instead money is spent on extravagant projects.
As your councillor, I will challenge the waste and fight for spending to be focused on essential services.
Vote Green!
John PRICE (Labour Party)
Our town and surrounding villages form a unique community, which is very active and improving each day, and I know that the city council and your existing local councillors are working each day on issues of concern such as fly tipping, antisocial behaviour and traffic management and are making every effort to address these matters which we all care about and want improvements.

Hide AdI care about such matters and will do my utmost to find appropriate resolutions.
If elected in May, I promise to do the very best for ALL people of the Ward, families young and old.
I will work in partnership wherever required with all appropriate agencies and my colleague ward councillors in playing my part.
You will get the best possible outcomes from your City Council representatives.
Please give me your valuable vote on May 6.

Hide AdMy interests lie in the local Community in which I have lived my whole life.
My passion is the people of Houghton and by working together we will strive to make Houghton a better/safer place to live, work and raise our families.
I have decided to go into local politics as I feel Houghton needs to be represented by people who put Houghton first rather than the party they belong to.
My political ethos is transparency, informing and involving the public.

Carlton Lee WEST (Liberal Democrat)
Like many I am fed up with Sunderland Council.
Every councillor in Houghton is from the Labour party.
They often say there’s no money for services and investment in Houghton, but they’re spending millions on new council offices in Sunderland.
Please lend the Liberal Democrats your vote in this year’s council election.
Houghton deserves better than just another Labour councillor who is more interested in Sunderland than Houghton.
