Sunderland to fall silent on Armistice Day
Armistice Day commemorates the symbolic end of World War I at 11am on 11 November 1918, with the signing of the agreement between the Allies and Germany which brought hostilities on the Western Front to an end - ' the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.'
People are invited to join the Mayor of Sunderland Councillor Alan Emerson and veterans at the war memorial in Burdon Road to observe the two minute silence remembering the sacrifice made by all those involved in conflicts throughout world history.
