Suspected unexploded World War Two bomb found on Sunderland beach is a gas cylinder
What appeared to be an unexploded World War Two bomb which was found on a Wearside beach is actually a gas cylinder, authorities have said.
The discovery was made when the tide was out at Hendon Beach in Sunderland on Monday evening.
Northumbria Police had said efforts were being made to identify the object and dispose of it.

Hide AdA spokeswoman for the force said that a police search adviser and explosive ordinance disposal were due to attend the beach as a precaution to ensure the device was safe and disposed of safely.
It has now been identified as a gas cylinder.
Plans are now being made to remove the object from the beach.
