Man taken to hospital after three-vehicle crash on the A690 as motorists face ‘heavy delays’
and live on Freeview channel 276
Police were called to the A690 Durham Road on the approach to the A19 at 8.30 am on Wednesday (June 9) following report of a crash involving three vehicles.
The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) attended as well and a male patient was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital.

Hide AdNorth East Live Traffic tweeted that there are heavy delays back past Stoneygate, with one of the lanes closed.
Police have advised motorists of an ‘increased congestion’ in the area as emergency services are still on the scene.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly before 8.30am today (Wednesday) we received a report of a three-vehicle collision on the A690 Durham Road on the approach to the A19.
“Emergency services are currently in attendance. Motorists are advised there will be increased congestion in the area.”

Hide AdA spokesperson for NEAS said: “We were called at 8:25 to a road traffic collision on the A690 ay Houghton le Spring.
“We dispatched a double crew ambulance and transported a male patient to Sunderland Royal Hospital.”
