Dramatic pictures show crashing waves at Sunderland coast as Met Office predicts dull and dreary weekend

The Met Office says today, Saturday, June 26, and tomorrow, Sunday, June 27, will be overcast and cloudy, with only a brief glimpse of the sun on Sunday afternoon and evening.
On the plus side, the recent rain and high winds which sent huge waves crashing over the promenade at Seaburn on Friday, June 25 are not expected to return.

Forecast for the weekend says there is no more than a 10% chance of rain over Saturday and Sunday, with winds not expected to get above 8mph.
Humidity will be high and the Met Office adds that UV and pollen levels will also be elevated throughout the weekend.
