Cowley, Cook or Johnson? Sunderland fans reveal their choice for next manager as race heats-up

The Black Cats are continuing their hunt for a new manager after Phil Parkinson was dismissed last weekend.
Andrew Taylor led the side against Burton Albion on Tuesday evening and could do likewise against Wigan Athletic on Saturday as the club’s hierarchy continue their search.

Over 500 supporters had their say on the club’s next manager – with Cowley earning just under half of the vote.
The former Lincoln City and Huddersfield Town manager has spoken publicly about his desire to land the job and is odds-on with the bookmakers to land the job.
Speaking to the Southend Echo, Cowley - when asked if he’d be keen to take charge – said “Sure. Sunderland are a huge football club with a wonderful history. For whatever reason they find themselves in League One but we will just have to wait and see.”
He added: "We love football and of course we miss football.

Hide Ad“We’re some enjoying some time off and it’s been a really good opportunity for us to go away and study.
“We’re continuing to try and improve and we’re working on our pro licence at the moment.”
Also featuring high in the betting are Paul Cook and Lee Johnson, but it’s Cowley who seems to have captured the imagination of the Sunderland faithful.
