Grayson has been out of work since being dismissed by Blackpool earlier this year, but The Sun now claim that the former Preston and Leeds boss is set to team-up with Wigan Athletic.
The Latics have been without a permanent manager since the departure of Paul Cook, and the club’s administrators now look set to draft in Grayson to oversee the early games of the League One campaign.

Meanwhile, Sunderland have been linked with a move for Scottish under-21 international Liam Burt.
The midfielder, who has spent time with both Celtic and Rangers in the past, is currently a free agent and is widely expected to head to England.
The Glasgow Times suggest that Burt had been on trial at Barnsley and had caught the eye of the Tykes, only to be offered a trial by the Black Cats – who are thought to be long-term admirers.

Burt, 21, scored three times in pre-season for Barnsley and put in impressive performances against Championship sides Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday – scoring against the Rams.
