'It's a special place': George Dobson speaks out on his future with Sunderland contract set to expire

The midfielder, who joined the Black Cats in 2019, has fallen down the pecking order this season and joined AFC Wimbledon on loan in January.
He has since gone on to become a key part of the side at Plough Lane, with the Dons having climbed away from relegation danger in recent weeks.

Hide AdAnd with his contract at the Stadium of Light set to expire in the summer, Dobson was quizzed on his future this week.
"It obviously all depends on what happens with Sunderland in the summer,” he said.
"I don’t know what’s going to happen with them.
"It’s definitely something I’d be open to. With any footballer, when you’re playing and playing well and enjoying it – there’s nothing better.
"I’ve honestly loved my time here, so we’ll just have to see what happens I guess.”

Hide AdBut having enjoyed some success during his loan spell in London, Dobson admits that a permanent move to a ‘special place’ such as Wimbledon would naturally appeal.
"I’ve loved being here,” he added.
"I’ve really enjoyed my spell so far. It’s a great football club and the stadium is really, really good.
"The fans – even though I haven’t met them, you can just tell by the way the club is run by the fans, it’s just one big community.
"Its a special place to play football.”
