Joe Hugill bags hat-trick as Sunderland AFC U18s advance in FA Youth Cup

Outstanding in claiming the win was striker Joe Hugill who scored at hat-trick. The tall Durham boy looks a real prospect with his super all round game and finishing.
Sunderland started like a train and were four goals up in the first half.

Hide AdThe side included Bali Mumba and Dan Neil - U-23 regulars but still eligible for this competition - and it was Mumba who opened the scoring.
He combined well with Cole Kiernan to finish by crashing a right-footed drive into the top corner from 18 yards.
Hugill got the second, following up a Kiernan shot which the keeper could only parry.
A third was added when Ryan Wombwell cut back from the right and Dan Neil fired home.

Hide AdOne minute before the break, Hugill got his second by closing down the keeper, whose attempt to clear rebounded into the net.
In the second half, the Shrews did pull one back with a header from a corner. It sparked off a bid to come back but the Wearsiders held firm and ran the game down.
Hugill claimed his hat-trick three minutes from time finishing an incisive pass from Dan Neil.
In the final seconds, the home side got a second goal but it was only a consolation and they finished a well-beaten side.

Hide AdA Sunderland elated coach Paul Bryson said "It was a tremendous display, especially in the first half. The inclusion of Mumba and Neil once again seemed to lift the others and a change to two up front of Hugill and Kiernan worked really well."
